Since first learning about geese I have always wondered to what extent the hype behind them was real and what was manufactured. From a distance they seem like a perfectly affable group looking only to travel the country from one side to the other while emitting their unique sound. Yet there are many who claim that geese are becoming a menace to the current landscape.
What is the truth?

First: Let's Define Geese
Geese come from the North part of America forming into a collective. The collective usually stay together as a banded unit, but occasionally may be found solo. Depending on the time of year they can often be seen (and heard) in and around New York, but in 2025 they could be found throughout the upper part of the country from Vermont to Chicago to Seattle, before heading South later in the year such as in Atlanta, and you may even see them in Europe or as far away as New Zealand.
Given their omnipresence people have many opinions on geese, as to whether they are good or bad. Some find their constant presence as of late to be a bit much, preferring if they were more at a distance. Some find their slight abrasiveness to be a bit startling requiring one habituate themselves to the uniqueness of geese.
One thing people cant deny is that geese have established a nationwide and global presence over the years, though some remark that their current numbers are somewhat manufactured. There is even talks they are becoming oversaturated, dominating the current landscape detrimentally.

Second: What's the truth?
With geese currently traveling around the global, there will undoubtedly be discussion as to their impact. Their sound depends "very heavily on the context in which they are made including...social context." Whether you find their sound endearing or slighting aggravating is up to you.
