Do These Bands Fux Live?

Midwest Emo

Tapei

August 14th, 2025

As I said, couldn't let my last night in Tapei end on such a soft note, so headed just a short distance to Revolver. The bar below was sterile, but the show upstairs certainly wasnt as we felt the reverb of the midwest play out in the Far East, with a nice nu-metal closer to end it. 4.25/5

Nu-Metal

Tapei

August 14th, 2025

After having a little difficulty breaking into the indie scene, I found this college haunt nestled in the Da'an District. A nice low key post modernist performance, but couldn't stay for the 2nd half as this was my last night before heading further West.

女巫店 (Witch House)

Ambient Classical Duo

Tapei

August 11th, 2025

First stop for music my West of West tour took me to these two beautiful dueters on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. A wild time with seniors going HAM. I told them their music was very hotel. 2/2.5 would tell them again.

Two Guys

Ezra Furman

Teregram Ballroom

August 4th, 2025

Final stop on the west coast before heading out on the West of West tour and boy did it feel good to be back in LA for a gig. The Ophelia's opened, full band style, while Ezra Furman closed us off from our unpleasant feelings, and played a goodly number of the tunes I was familiar with 4.33/5.

Los Angeles

The Ophelias

Houghton Park

August 2nd, 2025

This was all about community, even if me and my folks were closer to interlopers. 3/3.5 start to the my West coast tour.

An Open Field (Ned)

14th Annual Uptown Jazzfest

Moor Mother + Sumac

Flatbush

July 25th, 2025

Alright, so who called MM + Sumac collaborating for a deathgaze extravaganza? Certainly not me, nor the people who I dragged there, but I thought it was amazing and a new venue to boot. Fatboi Sharif added to the fugue state. Last concert before heading West, then really West. 4.25/5

Hiding Places

Bushwick

July 17th, 2025

Its been over a year since I last set foot in this venue. I stood around awkwardly for a bit, drank a Tecate, played a couple queer coded video games, drank a Jim Beam, watched Fraternal Twin blow the place wide open, drank a Jameson, then went into my hiding places. 4.666/5

Dan Deacon

Staten Island?!

July 11th, 2025

Holy smokes after almost 5 years on the circuit I have been brought out to Staten Island with only a minimal amount of cat fishing and that cornmeal dish (plus some Habanero hot sauce) to see the illustrious Dan Deacon, and Snooper...no Horsegirl, no APTBS. We humaned for 3 hours on a pleasant summer eve. 4/5 would cross the river again.

A Place to Bury Strangers

Colleen Green

Ridgewood

June 28th, 2025

Heading back to TV Eye for the first great show of the summer. Colleen killed us with her 2015 album, and Rozwell Kid stunned us with their repertoire. Even Jeff the Brotherhood showed up for good measure. Lots of good convo in between sets about 90s metal though have to ding em for not having ranch. 4.75/5.

A Beacon School

Bushwick

June 21st, 2025

Ya, totally forgot buying the ticket to this one a few days prior in a stupor. Well had to go, though was feeling a little low energy. The opener (not featured) packed a wallop, but by the time ABS came on, I was like meh. 2.5/3. I tried to break into Elsewhere after, but alas.
